PRO-KEDS was founded in 1949 by the U.S. Rubber Company to meet the needs of athletes. Worn by legends such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Michael Jordan, the shoes became a symbol of sports and streetwear success. In the 1970s, PRO-KEDS hit the streets of New York, becoming an icon of the hip-hop movement.
