The North Face takes its name from the coldest, most inclement side of a mountain. But the legend was born on a beach. More precisely, in the North Beach area of San Francisco. It was here, in 1966, that two hiking enthusiasts decided to turn their passion into a small mountain equipment store. Today, The North Face offers a full line of performance apparel, equipment and footwear.
